How to play Aion 2

Aion 2 is a manual-combat MMORPG — NCSOFT built it with no auto-combat, which is unusual for the genre in Korea. You pick a faction (Elyos or Asmodian) and one of nine classes, and every class is playable on either side.

Before you start

  • Pick a faction: Elyos or Asmodian. NCSOFT runs separate servers per faction to keep populations balanced, so this decides who you play with, not just how you look.
  • Pick a class from the nine. Role matters more than name — see the class list for what each one does.
  • Expect to actually press buttons. There is no auto-combat and no auto-pathing to fall back on.

What the game is built around

  • A hit-confirm combat system with manual controls, positioned by NCSOFT as skill-based rather than idle.
  • Over 200 dungeons, from solo instances up to 8-player group content.
  • Realm-vs-Realm — large-scale faction warfare is the endgame pillar, carried over from the original Aion.
  • Over 200 character customisation options at creation.

What we are not going to tell you yet

Optimal builds, levelling routes and class rankings for the global build do not exist yet — nobody outside NCSOFT has played it. Any guide claiming otherwise is describing a Korean patch or making it up. Ours publish when the numbers do.

Frequently asked

Is Aion 2 beginner friendly?
It uses manual combat with no auto-play, so it asks more of you moment to moment than most modern Korean MMORPGs. Class choice is not permanent in terms of your account — you can make other characters — but faction determines which servers you play on.
Should I play Elyos or Asmodian?
Every class is playable on both sides, so the choice is about which faction's servers and community you want to be on rather than mechanical advantage. NCSOFT separates servers by faction for population balance.
Do I need to play the first Aion?
No. Aion 2 is set in Atreia and reuses names, factions and locations such as the Fire Temple, but it is a new game with its own systems.
