Elyos or Asmodian?
All nine classes are playable by both factions, so neither Elyos nor Asmodian gives you a mechanical advantage. What the choice decides is which servers you play on — NCSOFT runs faction-separated servers for population balance — and therefore who you play with and against.
What differs
| Class availability | Identical — all nine on both sides |
|---|---|
| Servers | Faction-separated, for population balance |
| Starting zones | Different — Elysea and Asmodae |
| Appearance and aesthetic | Different |
| Mechanical advantage | None announced |
So how should you pick?
- Pick the side your friends are on. Faction-separated servers make this the decision that actually constrains who you can play with.
- Pick the aesthetic you want to look at for a few hundred hours.
- Do not pick for power. There is no announced mechanical asymmetry between the factions.
Can you play both?
Nothing announced prevents making characters on both sides, but because NCSOFT separates servers by faction, an Elyos and an Asmodian character will not share a world. Treat it as two separate games rather than two characters in one.
Frequently asked
- Is Elyos or Asmodian better in Aion 2?
- Neither. All nine classes are available to both factions and no mechanical advantage has been announced. The choice determines which faction-separated servers you play on.
- Can Elyos and Asmodians play the same classes in Aion 2?
- Yes. Unlike the original Aion's early design, all nine classes are available to both factions.
- Can you switch factions in Aion 2?
- NCSOFT has not announced faction switching. Because servers are separated by faction, treat the choice as durable.
